Visit the American Computer & Robotics Museum and find out why distinguished Harvard scientist Edward O. Wilson described us as, “Inch for inch, the best museum in the world.” Our exhibits span 4,000 years of human history, from original cuneiform tablets to the first personal computers, and include topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Men on the Moon, Cracking the Enigma Code, and more. Founded in 1990 by visionary collector George Keremedjiev, our mission is to collect, preserve, interpret, and display the artifacts and history of the Information Age. Located just west of the Montana State University campus, ACRM is the oldest continuously operating museum of its kind in the world, and a top-rated Bozeman attraction on Trip Advisor!

A great experience for both casual visitors and STEM enthusiasts alike. The museum is fairly small but packs a lot of exhibits and information for its smaller space. There are a replica of the Gutenberg printing press; original prints of writings from John Locke and Isaac Newton; exhibits on NASA, the enigma machine, DNA, and even 3D video games; and computers and calculators galore from throughout the ages. The front desk lady was very friendly, she gave us about a 10 minute introduction and then we were free to explore at our own pace. The gift shop didn’t have any souvenirs of the museum but had plenty of books, toys, and other options to pick from.

Another unexpected treasure we found along the way! We stopped spontaneously and bought tickets ($$). The space isn't huge, but it was just enough to give the kids a break from the car and engage our minds. They got to play Oregon Trail and see Apple computers through the years. The museum has a replica Gutenberg Press, an original WWII Enigma machine, a HUGE 8 megabyte hard disk on display, which helped my kids understand why floppy discs and thumb drives were such a huge step forward! They also have a small gift shop packed with intriguing books and novel items for your techy, hard-to-buy-for peeps.

Excellent collection. Very informative displays and helpful staff. Probably best for adults and older kids.

Great little gem of a museum. Very knowledgeable front desk person gave us a 10-15 minute introduction. Notable exhibits included a replica if the Antikythera mechanism, a range of early computer models and a rotor from an enigma machine. Not as many exhibits on robotics but the ones there were wonderful. No wait and very reasonable cost. Most definitely worth the time to stop here!

Something you won't expect when you get there is they have early military AI chips. I didn't even know that was a thing that existed until I came here. Anyone driving through Bozeman should check it out!
