Welcome to B Bar Ranch

The heart of Montana since 1906

A sacred place. A state of mind.

Between our two ranches in Big Timber and Tom Miner Basin, Montana, we aim to preserve landscape, livestock, and human health. As stewards of a unique, diverse, and fragile ecosystem of exceptional beauty, the B Bar serves as an important model for conservation ecology, and preserving human relationships with the natural world. Through our two core businesses, producing organic beef and hosting rejuvenating retreats, the B Bar Ranch encourages health and wellness in all parts of our community in all we do.

Visited B Bar for a farm to table dining experience and it was fantastic. Beautiful ranch that I’ll definitely try staying at next time I’m visiting. Accommodations are perfect and the views can’t be beat.

My husband and I stayed at the Reed Cabin at BBar Ranch in late August and highly recommend! We booked directly with Trina- the Reed Cabin is a great value! The Tom Miner Basin is breathtaking and by staying at the cabin, we felt immersed in the landscape views. We ordered almost everything from the ranch menu and they stocked the refrigerator prior to our arrival. The food was excellent (try the lasagna!) and made for a very convenient stay. The drive to the North entrance of Yellowstone also felt convenient- it goes by quickly with such views. The cabin has the rustic feel that creates a picture-perfect relaxing setting. The large living room window and two outdoor porches provide perfect views. We managed to see the galactic center for amazing astrophotography, as well as grizzlies grazing in the distance on the ranch's fields (bring your binoculars!). The soaking tub also was a nice surprise. We would love to return- truly a gem! Would definitely recommend enjoying the vastness of B Bar Ranch and coziness of the Reed Cabin- we were so glad while driving through Gardiner that we branched out and got to experience true Montana beauty.

I went out here on the recommendations of my tour guide Nolan in hopes of seeing grizzly bears and boy was he right on! I saw a mama bear and her two cubs in the meadow.

We just returned from a stay in the Reed cabin on the B Bar Ranch. We happened to show up the day before the 1000 year rain event that flooded the area. The staff at the ranch made sure we were safe and comfortable during the remainder of our stay. We had stayed there to have a comfortable base from which to visit Yellowstone. Despite not being able to enter the park, the ranch is an excellent jumping off point for day trips into the bordering national forests, hikes along the Yellowstone River, fishing, and zipping up to Livingston, if need be. We will be back and recommend staying at the ranch.

Buy Organic Beef

The B Bar Ranch raises grass-fed and finished organic beef with stewardship and sustainability in mind. Our love for the area means that we ranch with a long-term perspective. We aim to protect and improve soil quality, plant biodiversity, and overall land health. Taking cues from the land and managing our herd to mimic natural cycles honors the limits of the ecosystem.

Experience the Basin

We believe that no matter what you are responsible for, act as a positive steward of it. At the B Bar Ranch, our stewardship practices are devised of three main categories: land, humans, and fauna. The sacred relationship that we share with our ecosystem constantly requires us to consider many aspects when finding balance. Navigating difficulties is rarely a quick fix, we use the B Bar Ranch as a laboratory to test and observe problem-solving tactics from all angles.

Regenerative Practices

B Bar Ranch has been a certified organic ranch for over 30 years. We are committed to regenerative agricultural practices: well armored soil and continual live plant/root by minimizing soil disturbance, promoting soil/plant diversity through pasture stitching, cover crops, and resting soil, livestock integration using regenerative grazing management, preserving and enhancing soil health through generation and application of closed system generated compost. We implement these practices to ensure systemwide health, improve the flavor and taste of beef and establish peace of mind for our customers.
