Why gute Laune

gute Laune is German. It means good mood.

The kind of mood you feel sitting down on a restaurant bench with past, present, and future good friends. Taking turns sharing life’s latest curveballs. Enjoying the happy haze of the best hefeweizen you’ve had this year. Sure, it can be that kind of good mood. But it also means something deeper. It’s good humor. It’s a good spirit.

It’s the spirit of making a food space that’s rancher-led, butcher-led, and community-led. The people who till the fields, move the livestock, and raise your meat are the stars of the show. Bringing the very best from the pasture on the horizon to the tray on your table. It’s the feeling when substance beats style. Where you can hold a real beer stein with heft in your hand. But most of all, it’s the feeling when the people who make the meat and the people who eat it can sit at the same table. When everyone in our Bozeman community can come together and share in the spirit of great food.

Love this place so much! Just FYI, all this food pairs well with Mountains Walking Grazing Clouds that they have on draft. The service was incredible. Our server was kind, knowledgeable about the menu, and had a really positive attitude. The food and beer were amazing. I photographed the dishes we tried and was so happy that there were clearly labeled vegetarian items. So many items could be made vegan as well (as their menu clearly indicated was available upon request). The food is very family friendly. There are two dining areas and both are gorgeous. Can’t wait to head back again.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Gute Laune, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. This loungey German-style pub offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with friends or enjoying a quiet evening. One of the highlights of my visit was their bison bratwurst. It was perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection, offering a unique twist on a traditional favorite. The pretzels were warm, soft, and served with a delicious mustard dip that complemented them perfectly. The menu also features a variety of other great snacks that are perfect for sharing. But what truly sets Gute Laune apart is their impressive selection of German-style beers. From crisp lagers to rich, malty brews, they have something to satisfy every beer enthusiast. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about their beer offerings, making excellent recommendations based on your preferences. Overall, Gute Laune is a must-visit for anyone looking for an authentic German pub experience with a modern twist. Great food, fantastic beers, and a welcoming atmosphere make it a standout spot in Bozeman.

I live near by and walked down during their opening week. Highly recommend for some beer and great food. They have a lot of vegetarian snack options and German beer on tap. We got the Belgian fries and the pretzel with beer and all were amazing. I also appreciated that they had two types of mustard on the table. Only thing that could make it better is a vegan sausage

What's local? Ownership, location(s), sourcing or all of the above? I've no idea if the owners live locally, but the food and the very place itself is all local. Better yet, I think Gute Laune is Bozeman exclusive. If you care about our downtown and want to hedge against franchise takeover, support Gute Laune, and I promise you'll love the food and atmosphere to boot. That's what we in wildlife sciences call a "bonus turtle."

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Great food and great service. We ordered a bunch of food to share among a large group. The chicken schnitzel sandwich, lions mane bratwurst and carrots were my favorites but everything was delicious. I also love that they serve cocktails! My new favorite restaurant in Bozeman.
