There's always something new to see at the Museum of the Rockies, Montana State University - Bozeman. You'll travel through 4 billion years of Earth's history beginning in the geology hall, Landforms/Lifeforms. Your next stop is One Day 80 Million Years Ago, a recreation of the dinosaur nesting colonies discovered by Jack Horner, the Museum's Curator of Paleontology. Travel on through exhibits about Montana's Native Americans and the state's recent history. And don't miss the world-class Taylor Planetarium for a new perspective on Montana's Big Sky. During the summer, visit a living history farm and see what life was like a century ago on a Montana homestead. And each summer, the Museum features a new exhibit. West of Wonder: The Natural History of Lewis & Clark. Often thought of as America's great adventure story, the Lewis and Clark Expedition should also be thought of as America's first great scientific endeavor. As we commemorate this great exploration, we also celebrate - in this exhibit - a scientific achievement that represents the epitome of Enlightenment Science.

We really enjoyed the museum. It was bigger than we anticipated. The children had a good time. There's some interactive exhibits and a cute children's area upstairs. There are some shows included with the purchase of the museum pass and it is best to look at the schedule for these first to decide which ones you may want to attend. The staff in the living farm museum were very informative and passionate about their job.

A gem in Bozeman! It has a planetarium, kids area upstairs, movie auditorium, interactive areas, huge dinosaur display and Living Farm next door. The kids loved the newest exhibit as well as the movie. Then we enjoyed the farm afterwards. Educational and fun!

As a dinosaur enthusiast since childhood the Museum of the Rockies was always a must visit for me if I ever got the chance and it did not disappoint. The breadth and variety of the paleontological exhibits were really world-class as expected from such a famous facility. I didn't really know what the museum had to offer apart from the dinosaur exhibits before visiting so I was pleasantly surprised by the additional areas particularly the exhibit about transportation in Montana since I'm also a car enthusiast. There was also a great exhibit of Leonardo Da Vinci's inventions in one of the main galleries. Unfortunately I hadn't been able to allot more time to my visit and missed out on the planetarium and the Living History Farm outside. Adding those in I'd certainly recommend devoting at least half a day to the museum for anyone wanting the full experience instead of just the two hours or so I had on my visit. That being said, I at least have something to look forward to on a future return visit.

So cool!!!! We landed in Bozeman after a long flight including a layover, and we saw this on the map and decided to visit on a whim. Did not disappoint! I don't think I've ever seen so many dinosaurs in one room before. Looks like a small museum on the outside, but it feels neverending when you get inside, and it is PACKED with dinos. The room with all the ceratopsia skulls was astonishing. Like I said, I've never seen so many dinosaur parts in one room before. Not to mention the variety!! Seems like a very very genuine and passionate museum; some attractions like this have much less to display for much more money and just seem cash-grabby, but I would gladly pay more than the $20 admission here. Even though we were totally beat beforehand, we had a really great time. My phone was dying so these are the only pictures I could get, and they only scratch the surface of this place. Next time I take a trip out to Bozeman, I'll have to visit again.
