There's always something new to see at the Museum of the Rockies, Montana State University - Bozeman. You'll travel through 4 billion years of Earth's history beginning in the geology hall, Landforms/Lifeforms. Your next stop is One Day 80 Million Years Ago, a recreation of the dinosaur nesting colonies discovered by Jack Horner, the Museum's Curator of Paleontology. Travel on through exhibits about Montana's Native Americans and the state's recent history. And don't miss the world-class Taylor Planetarium for a new perspective on Montana's Big Sky. During the summer, visit a living history farm and see what life was like a century ago on a Montana homestead. And each summer, the Museum features a new exhibit. West of Wonder: The Natural History of Lewis & Clark. Often thought of as America's great adventure story, the Lewis and Clark Expedition should also be thought of as America's first great scientific endeavor. As we commemorate this great exploration, we also celebrate - in this exhibit - a scientific achievement that represents the epitome of Enlightenment Science.

After years of wanting to see this, we finally did. The museum is great for families to visit with various interactive exhibits for kids. I would say 90% of the museum pertains to dinosaur and other fossils but also has information and artifacts from the area in general. There is a homesteaders house you get to go through as part of the admission.

Amazing museum for dinosaurs’ lovers! We had the best time learning so much, watching and exploring through real skeletons, sculptures, photos, movies etc. Highly recommended! The planetarium was also nice but we found it hard for the kids to sit 25 minutes watching the movie.

Very informative and interesting place. The planetarium was equally informative and well worth the time to watch and learn. We watched the "Montana Skies" presentation that was all about the stars and galaxies and constellations we can see here in Montana. I would highly recommend this place if in the area. Had many, many displays of dinosaur bones, skeletons and displays of many interesting animals that have been found throughout different parts of the state. The two or three life size T-Rex skeletons were amazing. The triceratops displays were equally awesome. Much more than I thought this place would be, so glad we took the time to visit. Great for the kids as well!

Really had a great time here with my family when we were visiting from New York- the highlight however weren't the dinosaurs or exhibits but seeing a celebrity there, which I feel as if I can say now, MANDY MOORE and her family were there (who I grew up LOVING and still do, she looked as beautiful as ever! ) I didn't want to disturb her time with family? As I was also with family but Mandy if you see this- I love you, you are a queen and I hope you had a wonderful time with those you love. I wish I could have said hello, but I know how important family time is as I drove from New York to Montana to spend time with mine, so I was not going to disturb someone else's. Also the exhibits were in-depth and interesting! I enjoyed the "living homestead/farm" as I'm a homesteader and home maker and really love that vibe. I think it's important to show case these things- how we lived versus how we are living. I liked seeing the sheep wagon which I saw a more in-depth version of at a different museum in Wyoming on my way to Montana. I didn't take many photos but there were several sensory play areas within the exhibits and that was a plus for our kids in the group. There's rotating exhibits so my family in Montana goes here often, but one exhibit is currently being switched out which significantly decreased the time of our stay. Still, it was worth the visit to learn about what archeologist are finding in this area and have discovered about dinosaurs, and is comparable in price to some of our New York State museums. However, I'd say the exhibits are on the smaller size and it is a museum you only plan to spend 1-4 hours at if your truly reading everything and have children who will cooperate, versus some larger ones that are a minimum 3 hour adventure. In the future- I'd like to see a discount for when partial exhibits are down or alternative exhibits are in place. We did not utilize the planetarium or other parts which could have extended our stay. I do think the $5.00 for bonus attractions is a reasonable price. Will visit again during my next trip to Montana.
