This is a real working ranch offering a glimpse of life into authentic wranglers, cowboys and cowgirls. Very cool experience. The food was excellent, and every meal was different. My horse was well trained and super sweet. Tons of fun fishing, riding, making new friends, campfires, hiking, and absorbing the Montana scenery! Friendly, helpful staff and would definitely go back!

More than an adventure!
3rd generation family owned ranch. The owners and their staff/team are so welcoming, genuine, and knowledgeable to make our week visit at Nine Quarter Circle Ranch one of the best weeks of my life! The atmosphere created right away allows all of the guests to mesh with the owners and staff to form fun, laughs, great conversations and friendships.
The food at every meal is plentiful and delicious! The kitchen and serving staff were so friendly and efficient. The cabins are even better than we expected- well maintained, nice size, very comfortable bed, full bathroom, big closet area, wood stove for the cool nights, nice front porch, and spotless! Daily housekeeping too.
The riding program is top-notch and so well organized! All of the horses are born, bred and raised at Nine Quarter. They live their entire lives on the ranch, and are very well cared for, including turned out to pasture every evening during their working summer months. There were 30 awesome guests during our visit and every rider was perfectly matched to their horse based on riding ability and size. Every guest said they were riding the “best” horse on the ranch. That says a lot. The wranglers took us on outstanding trails with magical views, hills, meadows, forest, streams and rivers that took us from beginner riders to advanced loping riders by the end of the week!
My husband enjoyed the excellent fishing program - he really enjoyed both guides, and was proud to learn how to fly fish and even caught a couple of fish !
The evening cocktail hour, campfires, happy hour at the senior Kelsey’s home and a fun evening of line dancing all added to an extremely fun week !
We will definitely be going back! Our children and grandchildren want us to take them next time for a family week.

A stunning family ranch experience with rock solid horses in a beautiful, remote spot with a creek running through it (& sparkling little swimming hole). No experience needed to ride. The horses know the trails! We did two rides every day into forests, through wildflower meadows, across little streams and wide, shallow rivers, or up steep rocky terrain with sublime views of snow capped mountains. Take your own riding hats, or opt for cowboy style. The swimming lake seemed more of a fishing lake, so the creek was the best option to cool off. The food is hearty, western family style, sharing tables with other guests. It's good they shuffle you around, with named place settings to spare awkwardness (but families are kept together). Happy hour is fun & helps you get to know the other guests, who were all lovely people. There were many returning guests too. Don't miss the overnight pack trip where you get to camp out like real cowboys with a campfire in a lovely valley by a creek. Our wildlife spots included a moose and calf, deer, bald eagle and a cinnamon bear. A fair few bears were spotted by guests during the week but you feel safe up on horseback on the trail and the wranglers are super experienced. You'll need bug spray and rain gear but the evening showers soon pass over and the bugs weren't too much of an issue, provided you'd tooled up. The week finished with a barn dance up in the hayloft with all staff and guests taking part. If you're after the definitive ranch experience, you'll find it here!

One of the best weeks ever! Not only is the ranch located in an absolutely stunning part of Montana, but the staff was so friendly, kind and helpful. And this goes beyond just public interaction, you could tell by the way the horses behaved and engaged with our group that they are well raised and cared for on the ranch. If you don't have horses of your own, or if you do not have the regular opportunity to ride outside of an arena then spending a few day at Nine Quarter Circle will do wonders for your riding confidence and skill set. Oh and I should also mention the food was fantastic. For one, you will be really hungry when you are spending 4 or so hours riding daily, and two given the remote location of the ranch you are dependent on what the kitchen can serve. They happily accommodated dietary restrictions and preferences and everything was made from scratch and delicious. Just an all around great place to get away from the world for a bit, and I can't wait to return next fall!
