It is a vacation rental, but a very special one. First, you’ll be staying in history. The property is located 10 miles from Bozeman on 21 acres in Gallatin Gateway. Originally homesteaded in 1888, there is a restored 1889 Barn 10 seconds from the back door which is open to tours during your stay. The house would’ve been built shortly after the 1889 barn. Stories of the ranch hands coming in for lunch on the back porch, a bunk house was on the property too. It was added onto over the years and fully restored in 2019. Appropriately, Thanksgiving that year we hosted our first guests. The process of restoring was done with wonderful craftsman and tradesman and the energy of the house comes to life with their contributions. You’ll enjoy the picket fenced yard with old tress. Sitting on the front porch watching the sunset will be a special memory you’ll take away. You’ll have your own special view of the Tobacco Root Mountains, and you might have your own special view of the elk herd on the adjacent mountain side. Plenty of other wildlife come through the property. At times horses are boarded. We usually have chickens for fresh eggs. Portnell Road is a gravel dead end lightly traveled road. The night sky is filled with stars. People have remarked on the silence. So, worth the 10 miles from town for the experience. Very important to add, is the list of people that have enjoyed the space have all been amazing. Super special human guests have left their happy energy behind. Huge windows and open living room dining room and kitchen make for a lovely gathering area.

Two separate bedroom suites each with a queen bed and bathroom. One suite separates with a sliding barn door and has two single pullout sleepers. We have room for campers at extra charge. The property has a private creek and picnics can be scheduled as part of your stay. We can advise on many attractions in the area, and also have a car that can be rented.
